THE COMPANY

  • BACKGROUND:

Centro Internacional de Inversiones S.A. was founded in 1969 under the name Empacadora Taylor and Associates at the initiative of US investors. In 1977, the company was acquired by Costa Rican investors and began operating under a family management, using the brand El Arreo to commercialize its products.

The company quickly developed into one of the leaders in the Costa Rican beef business and in the year of 1990 decided to expand its local operations building a plant for the production of pork using the brand name Camsa.

Following a culture of innovation and always seeking to meet the needs of its customers, in 2000 the value-added products division (PVA) began its operations. The value-added products division slices and portion sizes beef and pork, producing processed products tailored to the consumer’s needs. The value-added products portfolio offered by the company includes ground beef & pork, marinated beef & pork, premium cuts and meat patties, among others.

In 2003, CIISA launched two brands of frozen food products: El Arreo Prepared Foods and Cosechas Marinas. Currently, both brands lead the national frozen snacks market, available in major supermarkets across the country and offering consumers a wide variety of ready-to-eat products.

Over the years, the company built a fresh and frozen product distribution network for the domestic consumer market in Costa Rica. We serve as a distribution platform for all producers or manufacturers that wish to commercialize their products to the self-service channel or retail stores in the country.

In 2007, the company expanded its operations acquiring Novaterra, a Nicaraguan beef processing plant.

Due to their continuous growth, the brand names El Arreo and Camsa make CIISA the leader in the meat sector nationwide. We apply strict quality controls, HACCP standards and are authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture as Establishments #12 and #12C. Moreover, the company is the largest Costa Rican exporter of beef to US markets, Central America, Asia and CARICOM, among others.

Guided by our company motto quality, service and convenience, in Centro Internacional de Inversiones S.A we seek to commercialize products of the highest quality, setting ourselves apart by the service offered to our customers.
